This painting is my response to Cio-Cio-San’s aria, ‘Un bel di, vedremo, from Puccini’s opera, Madama Butterfly.
A suspended vision of longing and hope, where Butterfly’s belief in her lover’s return shimmers between tenderness and heartbreak.
