33cm x 33cm
Acrylic and mixed media on board in white wooden frame
The paintings in this series are my emotional response to operatic music that deeply resonates with me and which I performed as a professional classical singer.
This painting is my response to Cleopatra’s aria, ‘Piangerò la sorte mia,’ from Handel’s opera, Giulio Cesare.
A restrained, downward-moving composition in pale, still tones that holds Cleopatra’s private grief in suspension, like tears that refuse to fall.
