The paintings in this series are my emotional response to operatic music that deeply resonates with me and which I performed as a professional classical singer.
This painting is my response to The Ride of the Valkyries in Act 3 of Wagner’s opera, Die Walküre, from Der Ring des Nibelungen.
A sweeping celestial vortex captures the rhythmic thunder and high-altitude rush of the Valkyries' flight as the souls of fallen heroes are drawn upward into the swirling, transcendent energy of Valhalla.
